I recently moved to Orchard Park (from my parents place in Hamburg), and live delightfully close to the McKinley Mall, Wegmans and Runner's Roost, and live less than 1/2-mile from The Ralph.

Regarding my contact information, my cell phone number is (716) 983-2391 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              (716) 983-2391      end_of_the_skype_highlighting. My preferred e-mail address for committee business esilverman19@gmail.com.

As for my involvement with PRSA, I've been a member of PRSA for almost two years, and was a member of UB's PRSSA chapter for several years during college. In addition to serving on this committee, I'll also be a member of the Excalibur Awards Committee again this year.

On a related note, I'm also a member of the Marketing Committee for the Alzheimer's Association, WNY Chapter; the Ride for Roswell Web Strategy Committee; and co-coordinator of the Team Alz Stars program for the Alzheimer's Association, WNY Chapter. (It involves recruiting individuals to run the various Buffalo Marathon races in May, and to raise funds and awareness for the Alzheimer's Association).

I've officially (as in receiving a paycheck) been a communication professional since 2002, when I worked as a correspondent for "NeXt," the weekly teen-oriented section of "The Buffalo News." My next job in the communication realm was in 2006, when I started out my career in PR as the Communication Coordinator for my local recreation department. From there, I worked in online sales and marketing for Channel 2, and also assisted their news department during a few breaking news situations when "all hands" were needed on deck, including the crash of Flight 3407. During that time, I also started working as a freelance reporter for "The Sun," a weekly newspaper in Hamburg. I'm happy to be back in the PR world as the PR Specialist for Gateway-Longview, a local nonprofit organization. I also did PR for various Participation in Government class activities back in high school, but that stint didn't involve a paycheck.

My future career aspirations involve working in PR in a role that has more of an emphasis on the digital realm, including social media. (I'm a web dork, as I enjoy developing web pages in Adobe Dreamweaver, and have done so for several years. I'm also fluent in HTML, and somewhat fluent in JavaScript).

As for what I'm looking forward to most about being a member of the E-Communications Committee, aside from getting to see everyone, I'm still very intrigued by our chapter's presence in the social media realm. I've loved watching our follower/group member/people who "like" us numbers increase since we launched them last spring, and I actually look forward to updating our Twitter/LinkedIn/Facebook pages! It's always intriguing for me to read a PR article and ponder if it's something that our various audiences would also enjoy. I've been thinking about ways over the past few weeks that we can reach out to new members on our social media sites, and look forward to working with the group on ways to successfully accomplish this task. I'm also excited to see how we can grow our chapter's presence on YouTube and Flickr.

Also, if the group wants to have another social outing, then I'd also look forward to that event. If it somehow involves the Sabres, then that would be fantastic. Very Happy
